Today

Saturday December 6, 2008, I now have a new used Psion. Yay. I hope
it survives long time. I need to name it. I hereby Christian it
Sion, which is a Hebrew name meaning "highest point." Confusing, I
know, to name a Psion Sion, but then again, why not?
It is snowing. It has been snowing a light fine snow all day and it
has accumulated to over an inch, two inches on the cars. Maybe even a
little more. We are in the car headed toward the village, Keith
driving and me playing with my new toy. We are going to get me some
new shoes and then hopefully get Xmas presents.
2:38 PM Back in the car, after walking around in "The Village" and
almost string out. The Toy store has moved, the shoe store has gone
out of business, Keith decided not to go to the Hardware store after
all, but Moosejaw was open and we got me a new pair of Merrill Jungle
Mocs for $65--we prolly could have gotten them more cheaply online,
but we thought we'd combine it with all those other tasks. Anyway,
I've got them. The tread on the old ones was worn completely way and
they insides were falling apart--they were dangerous in the snow!
So we drove to the Hill, because K thought the toy store had moved
there, but the numbers were all wrong.
3:34 PM AK! I am sitting in the car. Turns out the toy store was
half a block from where we were after we drove to the Hill (and back
to the village). We wandered around the toy store for SO long! AK!
My back really hurts now. Finally, we have Nathaniel and Sophia taken
care of. Phew. Of course, I have to wrap all the gifts, but at least
they are purchased. That was enough shopping for now! I think!
Keith is in the hardware store looking for Duco cement. I had to sit
down!
What I would like to now is go home and pee, unload the gifts under
the tree where they can sit until they get wrapped, and go out and try
our now X-C skis, which we've never used yet. Maybe 15minutes at
Balduck and 15 at Pier Park or go to Belle Isle?
I am so pleased to have Sion, this new Psion computer (new tome, but
used). I hope it keeps working. I want to write on it in the car and
while walking etc (but not when it is snowing or raining!)
I want to write blog posts etc. I need to find the CF card from
Sylvanna or the last Psion I was using and put it in Sion so I can
access my old poems etc.
My new Mantra: "Use Less!"
(photo of bar of white soap with yellow soap attaches.) Of course,
I've never been a person who was terribly wasteful, and I've heard and
tried to follow the Reduce, reuse recycle mantra in the past, but I am
really concentrating more on using less of anything I can use less of.
Less shampoo, less conditioner, less soap, less dish and laundry
detergent. I've been able to cut my usage substantially without
suffering any apparent ill effects.
First, I cut my shampoo by a third, then by another third, and so on,
I'm now using between an 8th and a quarter of what I used to use.
Then, I went from a daily showerer to skipping two days a week to
skipping three days a week, and now I am skipping 4 days a week and
only showering three days a week. Thus, I have cut my consumption of
shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc yet again.

6:02 PM We're making supper--I am making a veggie stir-fry and Keith
is making hamburgers. It's dark out, but he's out in the snow
grilling them.
I am very excited because--YAY--we went cross-country skiing just
now, over at Balduck Park, for the first time this year, and for the
first time ever on our new skis. YAY Wahoo. I had a really good
time. It was pretty dark already, but we took some pictures. First
we skied on the wooded side, and then into the schoolyard and then
through the soccer fields and crossed Chandler Park and climbed the
sledding hill and skied down that. Yay us! Yay skiing, yay fun, we
had a great time!
So today I did a little grocery shopping, went Christmas shopping,
cooked two kids of yummy soups for lunch, cuddled Keith and went
skiing. I did not work on my Christmas cards or gift cards or do the
any of the rest of the Christmas shopping. The part we did was
exhausting. So I guess we did enough and we still have the evening!
:-)
